power-supply cords or extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in
their use. If a longer detachable power-supply cord or extension cord is used,

a grounded wall outlet.
GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS
This appliance must be grounded while in use.
CAUTION: To ensure continued protection against risk of electric shock, connect to
properly ground outlets only.
GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS – US ONLY
The appliance has a plug that looks like Figure A. An adaptor, as shown in Figure B, should
be used for connecting a 3-prong grounding plug to a 2-wire receptacle. The grounding

USING YOUR 4-IN-1 GRILL/GRIDDLE
It is important to place your 4-in-1 Grill/Griddle on a clean and flat surface when using it
in any of the three cooking positions.
The three cooking positions are as follows:
1. Panini Press / Contact Grill – The 4-in-1 Grill/Griddle is in the Closed Position :
the upper plate/cover rests flat on the lower plate/base. This is your starting and
heating position when using as a contact grill or panini press.

GE GRILL GRIDDLE r5:Layout 1 8/8/07 4:57 PM Page 7
2. Open Grill or Griddle to Flat Position: This is when the upper and lower plates are
even with each other, lining up to create one large cooking surface. The 4-in-1
Grill/Griddle stays in this position when used as an open grill or griddle. To place the
4-n-1 Grill/Griddle to this position, locate the hinge release lever on the right arm. Use
your right hand to slide the lever towards you to unlock position while firmly holding
the handle with your left hand. Push the handle back until the cover rests flat on the
counter. To reset the 4-in-1 Grill/Griddle into its closed position, lift the cover off the
table while sliding the hinge release lever to the unlock position and close the cover. If
the 4-in-1 Grill/Griddle is already in the open position and you wish to place it into the
flat position, lift the handle slightly while sliding the hinge release lever to the unlock
position. Push the handle back until the cover rests in the flat position.
NOTE: Moving the handle slightly while sliding the hinge release lever will help to
adjust the 4-in-1 Grill/Griddle cover.
3. Panini Press/Contact Grill - Open Position: When the upper plate/cover is open, food
can be added and removed. To set the 4-in-1 Grill/Griddle to this position, simply lift
the upper plate/cover by the handle until you feel it come to a locked position. The
cover will stay in the upright position until you lower the handle for cooking.
When the handle is lowered while the hinge release lever is in the unlocked position,
the upper cover will release and pivot to lie flat on top of the food. This allows you to
cook your food evenly from both top and bottom. When you lift the handle to open
the 4-in-1 Grill/Griddle after cooking, the cover will remain in the horizontal position,
parallel to the lower base. In order to lock the cover back into the upright position, you
must close the 4-in-1 Grill/Griddle completely (without any food in place).

that the drip cups are dishwasher safe. You must use both drip cups if you want to use
the appliance as an open grill or griddle. In this condition, make sure to put the drip
cups at either end of the unit directly underneath the outflow spouts.
5. Cooking Plate Insertion:
Put the Grill Griddle into the Flat Position
(see diagram) making sure the controls are
facing front. Insert the plates one at a time.

Hinge
release lever
Grill/Griddle, and are differentiated by the

spout should be on the front right-hand corner of the plate if you are facing the 4-in-1
Grill/Griddle. Find the metal brackets at the center of the housing unit and angle the
back end of the plates so they are parallel with the cutouts on the back of the plates.
Then slip the plate underneath the brackets and push down on the front end of the
