Mounting Instructions
The B156-002, B156-002-DVI, and B156-002-HDMI come with
mounting hardware that allows them to be mounted in a variety of ways.
The following images show the different ways the included mounting
brackets can be attached for different mounting methods.
Note: The images below show a B140-1A0, but the mounting hardware installation is the same
for the B156-002, B156-002-DVI, and B156-002-HDMI.

Note: The installation diagram shows a B156-002, but installation will be the same for the
B156-002-DVI and B156-002-HDMI.

Make sure the DisplayPort source is powered off.
Connect the source to the input port on the splitter using a P580-
Series DisplayPort cable (or a P583-Series Mini DisplayPort to
DisplayPort Cable). Note: The distance between the source and
splitter must not exceed 16 ft. (5 m).
3
Connect the included external power supply to the splitter, and plug
it into a Tripp Lite Surge Suppressor, Power Distribution Unit (PDU),
or Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS). The Green Power LED on the
splitter will illuminate to indicate the unit is receiving power.
4
Connect a monitor to the Output 1 port on the splitter using a
DisplayPort (for B156-002), DVI (for B156-002-DVI), or HDMI (for
B156-002-HDMI) cable. Note: See the Optional Accessories listing
in this manual (under Package Contents) for recommended cables.
The distance between the splitter and monitor must not exceed 35 ft.
(10.6 m).

5
Repeat step 3 to connect a monitor to the Output 2 port on the
splitter.
6
7
Turn on the power to the source and connected monitors. The Orange
port LEDs will illuminate to indicate that a signal is being received and
video will appear on the connected monitors.
The connected monitors can be set to display in Mirror (Clone)
or Extended modes. When in Mirror (Clone) mode, the maximum
supported video resolution is 1920 x 1200 @ 60Hz. When in
Extended mode, the connected monitors will be treated as one
monitor, and the maximum supported video resolution will double to
3840 x 1200 @ 60Hz. When in Extended mode, you will need to
make sure that your monitors are positioned accordingly, so that the
video appears correctly and the mouse pointer moves from screen to
screen in the proper order.
Troubleshooting
If you are unable to get an acceptable image after following the
installation instructions, try the troubleshooting tips below.
1
Is the external power supply that came with the product connected
and plugged into a working power source? For the product to function
properly, it must be connected to and receiving power from the
external power supply.
2
3
Was the power to the DisplayPort source turned off prior to
installation? If not, restart your computer.
What resolution are you trying to reach? Tripp Lite’s DisplayPort
Splitters are tested to support up to 1920 x 1080 @ 60Hz video
resolution (or 3840 x 1080 @ 60Hz when monitors are set to
Extended mode). If you are not able to get an acceptable image, try
lowering your computer’s video resolution or adjusting the refresh rate.

Troubleshooting
4
What length cables are you using? The B156-Series splitters have
been tested at a maximum distance of 16 ft. between the source
and splitter, and 35 ft. (25 ft. for B156-002) between the splitter
and connected monitors. Exceeding these lengths can decrease
performance
5
What type of cabling are you using? Inferior cabling can result in poor
performance, so it is important that you use cables that can support
the video resolution you are trying to obtain. It is recommended that
you use the Tripp Lite cables shown in the Optional Accessories listing
in this manual, as they have been tested to work with the B156-
Series Splitters.
6
7
8
Test your cables to ensure they are working properly. For example,
connect your DisplayPort cables between a source and monitor that
you know works to see if the cable is functioning.
Are you using a VGA to DVI adapter with the B156-002-DVI? The
B156-002-DVI supports DVI-D (Digital) only, and will not function if
connected to a VGA monitor.
If using a DVI to HDMI adapter with the B156-002-DVI or
B156-002-HDMI, you will only be able to transmit a video signal.
DVI does not support audio, and will not be able to send or receive an
audio signal.
