CL2100 SERIES TELEPHONE DIAGRAM  
PREPARING TO USE THE CL2100 SERIES TELEPHONE  
BASE PREPARATION PROCEDURE  
1) Insert either end of the RJ-45 cable into the jack on the back of the telephone labeled  
“LINE.”

2) Insert the other end of the cable into the jack on the AC adapter labeled “PHONE.”  
Note: The base may emit a “beep” tone when the power is switched on.  
3) Insert one end of the RJ-11 line cord into the jack on the AC adapter labeled “LINE.”  
4) Insert the other end of this line cord into a telephone wall outlet jack.  
5) Plug the AC adapter into an available, unswitched electrical wall outlet.  
6) Remove the plastic overlay and place the paper faceplate over the keys. Replace the  
plastic overlay by hooking the tabs on the overlay into the recessed slots located on  
both sides.

Hint: The overlay is easiest to insert when the left or right side tabs are inserted first,  
and the middle of the overlay is slightly bowed to allow for insertion of the other tabs.

7) Place the cordless handset on the base unit.

Note: The speakerphone may turn on and speakerphone LED illuminate when the  
base unit is first powered on. Press the Speakerphone “On/Off” button to reset the  
speakerphone to the off position.

1) Prepare to install the battery into the handset by first removing the rubber screw cover  
and the screw beneath. Then firmly press down on the top of the battery compartment  
cover and slide it towards the bottom of the handset until it is removed.  
2) Insert the battery connector into the connector inside the handset.  
3) Replace the battery compartment cover, retaining screw and rubber screw cover.  
Note: The handset may emit a “beep” tone when the battery is connected. The “ON”  
key will blink to indicate the handset is searching for the base. It will stop blinking  
when the handset is registered to base. This is an indication that the telephone is ready  
to be used. To ensure optimal performance of the telephone charge the battery overnight.

BASE – HANDSET REGISTRATION PROCEDURE (FOR HOTEL TECHNICAL SERVICE PERSONNEL ONLY)  
To register the CL2100 series handset to the base:  
1) Press and hold the “CONF” key until a running light appears on the handset “Line 1,”  
“Line 2” and “CONF” LED’s.  
2) Press the numbers 4, 5 and 6 (in sequence) on the keypad. The “Line 1,” “Line 2” and  
“CONF” LED’s will be flashing. Immediately press and hold both the “PAGE” key  
and the “HOLD” key on the base simultaneously, until two continuous beeps are  
heard from the base unit. When a link between the base and handset is established,  
the “Line 1” and “Line” 2 LED’s on handset will be in a steady “on” state. When  
both LED’s turn off, the registration procedure is completed.

3) To confirm the handset is successfully registered to the base, press the “PAGE” key on  
the base. The handset will beep for a short period. The handset will stop beeping if it  
is answered, by pressing the “Line1” or “Line 2” keys on the handset, or by pressing  
the “PAGE” key on the base again.

CHARGING THE BATTERY  
The rechargeable Nickel Metal Hydride battery must be fully charged before using the  
phone for the first time. It is recommended that the battery pack be charged overnight

(or for at least 12 hours) without interruption before the first use.  
1) Connect the CL2100 series to a working telephone line.  
2) Press the either “Line 1” or “Line 2” key on base unit. The LED for the line selected  
will illuminate, indicating its selection.  
To charge the battery, place the handset, keypad down, in the base unit. Ensure that the  
“CHARGE” LED on the base illuminates. If the LED does not light, check the following:  
3) Press the “STORE” key. (This is a hidden key; for key location, please refer to the  
diagram on the inside front cover of this user guide.)  
4) Enter the target telephone number, including “PAUSE” as required. The number  
sequence can be up to 32 digits long.  
1) Ensure that the AC adapter is plugged into a working, unswitched AC outlet, and that  
the RJ-45 cord is plugged into both the telephone and the AC adapter in the phone  
position.  
2) Ensure that the contacts on the bottom of the handset are making good contact with  
the base unit charging contacts.  
Note: (A pause may be stored in the memory dial sequence, but it may not be the first  
digit. Flash may not be stored in a memory dial sequence.)  
5) Press the “STORE” key again.  
6) Press the auto dial key where the number is to be stored.  
7) Press the “SPEAKERPHONE” key to disconnect. The selected line’s LED will turn  
off, indicating completion of programming.  
CLEANING THE BATTERY CONTACTS  
To maintain the handset in fully-charged condition, it is important to clean all charging con-  
tacts on the handset and base unit. Use a pencil eraser or other contact cleaner. Do not use  
any liquids or solvents to clean these contacts.  
SELECTING LINE 1 AND LINE 2  
ADJUSTING THE BASE RING VOLUME  
The patented PrimeLine/RingLine Select™ feature of the CL2100 series makes selecting  
the correct line as easy as picking up the handset or engaging the speakerphone. This  
feature prioritizes the ringing or idle line. To manually select another line, press the key  
(“Line 1” or “Line 2”) that corresponds to the desired line.  
To adjust the ringer volume of the base unit, locate the respective “Line Ringing Volume”  
adjustment control on the back of the telephone labeled “RINGER LOW/HI.” Slide the  
switch to the desired setting.  
ADJUSTING THE HANDSET RING VOLUME  
The handset ring volume can be adjusted by pressing the volume “UP” and “DOWN” keys  
on the handset during the ringing or idle mode.  
RECEIVING A CALL USING THE HANDSET  
When the CL2100 series receives an incoming call, both the base and handset will emit an  
audible ringing tone. The message LED and the “ON” key LED on the handset will be  
flashing, following the ring cadence.  
ADJUSTING SPEAKERPHONE VOLUME  
To receive the call with the handset not on the base cradle:  
1) Pick up the handset.  
2) Press the “LINE” key associated with the ringing line, indicated by the blinking LED.  
3) The proper “LINE” LED will illuminate.  
To adjust the speakerphone volume, press the volume “UP” and “DOWN” keys on the base  
unit. Press volume “UP” key to increase the volume level. Press the volume “DOWN” key  
to decrease volume level.  
4) To end the call, place the handset on the base cradle, or press the “LINE” on/off key.  
ADJUSTING HANDSET RECEIVE VOLUME  
To adjust the handset receiver volume, press volume “UP” and “DOWN” keys on the hand-  
set while the handset is on line. Volume control is also available during mute.  
To receive the call with the handset on the base cradle:  
1) Pick up the handset.  
2) The handset will automatically answer the call and the appropriate “LINE” LED will  
illuminate.  
3) To end the call, place the handset on the base cradle, or press the “LINE” on/off key.  
LIGHTED KEYPAD  
The keypad on the handset will illuminate if one of the keys is pressed. It will turn off after  
a few seconds. If the “ON” key is pressed, the keypad will illuminate and then go off after  
a few seconds, except the “ON” key. This is to indicate that the phone handset is on. The  
light will turn off when the “OFF” key is pressed.  
RECEIVING A CALL USING THE SPEAKERPHONE  
1) Press the “SPEAKERPHONE” key on the base unit. The speakerphone will answer  
the call. The “SPEAKERPHONE” LED will turn on to indicate that speakerphone is  
activated.  
LOW BATTERY INDICATOR  
When the handset battery level is low, the LED indicator will blink when the phone is not  
in use. When the phone is in use, the LED will blink and the handset will emit a beep tone.  
Return the handset to the base cradle for recharging as soon as is practical.  
2) To end the call, press “SPEAKERPHONE” key again. The “SPEAKERPHONE”  
LED will turn off.  
TO PLACE A CALL USING THE HANDSET  
PROGRAMMING THE HOTEL SERVICES DIRECT ACCESS KEYS  
1) Press the desired “LINE” key on the handset. The LED will illuminate.  
2) Listen for dial tone, then dial the desired number.  
The CL2100 series has either five (model CL2105) or ten (model CL2110) programmable  
hotel services direct access (or auto dial) keys (M1-M5/M10.) These keys can be  
programmed to automatically dial telephone numbers or activate telephone system features.  
3) To end the call, press the “LINE” key for that line. The LED will turn off.  
TO PLACE A CALL USING THE SPEAKERPHONE  
1) Press the “SPEAKERPHONE” key. The “SPEAKERPHONE” LED will illuminate.  
2) Listen for dial tone, then dial the desired number.  
These keys can only be programmed from the base unit. To program the keys, follow these  
steps:

3) To end the call, press the “SPEAKERPHONE” key again. The “SPEAKERPHONE”  
LED will turn off.  
LAST NUMBER REDIAL ON BASE  
1) Press the “SPEAKERPHONE” key. The “SPEAKERPHONE” LED will illuminate.  
2) Press the “REDIAL” key, and the telephone will dial the last number dialed.  
3) To end the call, press “SPEAKERPHONE” again. The “SPEAKERPHONE” LED  
will turn off.  
TO MAKE A CALL USING THE HANDSET, WHILE DIALING WITH THE BASE KEYPAD  
1) Pick up the handset and press the desired “LINE” key. The LED will illuminate.  
2) Listen for dial tone, then dial the desired number using base keypad.  
3) To end the call, place the handset on the base cradle or press the “LINE” on/off key  
for the active line.  
LAST NUMBER REDIAL ON THE HANDSET  
1) Pick up the handset and press the a “LINE” key. The LED will illuminate.  
2) Press the “REDIAL” key, and the telephone will dial the last number dialed.  
3) To end the call, press the “LINE” key again. The LED will turn off.  
USING THE HOTEL SERVICES DIRECT ACCESS (AUTO DIAL) KEYS  
Using the speakerphone:  
1) Press “SPEAKERPHONE” key. The “SPEAKERPHONE” LED will illuminate.  
2) Listen for dial tone, then dial the desired number by pressing the hotel services direct  
access key where the number was stored.  
FLASH ON BASE AND HANDSET  
The “FLASH” key is dedicated to perform a timed hookflash.  
Note: There are three flash programming keys (recessed) to select different flash times  
(100/300/600 ms.) See diagram inside front cover for more information.  
3) To end the call, press “SPEAKERPHONE” key again. The “SPEAKERPHONE”  
LED will go out.  
TO MUTE THE SPEAKERPHONE  
Using the handset:  
1) Press the “MUTE” key on base. The “MUTE” LED will illuminate, to indicate that  
mute is active.  
1) Pick up the handset and press a “LINE” key. The LED will illuminate.  
2) Listen for a dial tone, then dial the desired number by pressing the hotel services  
direct access key on the base where the number was stored.  
2) Press the “MUTE” key again to disable mute. The “MUTE” LED will turn off.  
3) To end the call, press the handset “LINE” key for the active line. The LED will go out.  
PAUSE  
Pause can be entered during off-hook manual dialing and chain dialing. This is a means of  
allowing a complex number to be redialed. Pause has been inserted for the handset and the  
base. Pause can be stored into the memory of hotel services direct access keys.  
CONFERENCE CALLS  
The “CONFERENCE” key allows the user to include two other parties in a three-way  
phone conversation. Typical conference calls would be:  
a) User initiates two calls  
b) User initiates one call after receiving a call  
c) User includes two callers  
PAGING  
This key initiates a handset page. When paging is active, the handset will beep. The mes-  
sage LED and the “ON” LED key on the handset will flash. To page:  
1) Press PAGE” key on the base. The handset will beep.  
2) The handset will stop beeping if answered, by pressing “ON” or “OFF” key on the  
handset, or by pressing the “PAGE” key on the base again.  
Note: The handset will not beep if the handset is in use. If the page is stopped by pressing  
the “ON” or “OFF” key within 30 seconds of receipt of the page from the base, the hand-  
set cannot receive another page immediately.  
User initiates two calls:  
1) Place call to first party.  
2) Place the first party on hold by pressing the “HOLD” key.  
3) Place call to second party using the available, unused line.  
4) Press the “CONFERENCE” key. The parties will be connected.  
User initiates one call:  
1) Receive call from first party.  
2) Place caller on hold by pressing the “HOLD” key.  
3) Place call to second party using the available, unused line.  
4) Press the “CONFERENCE” key. The parties will be connected.  
MESSAGE WAITING CONFIGURATION  
When a voice message waiting signal is received, the message-waiting LEDs on both the  
handset and base will blink. Both LEDs will turn off once the message has been retrieved.  
To configure message waiting mode for Siemens system:  
User includes two callers:  
1) Receive call from first party and place it on hold.  
2) Receive call from second party.  
1) Press and hold “Line 1” key on base. Plug in the power supply socket; you will hear  
two beeps.  
2) Release “Line 1” key; when you hear two beeps, the set is in Siemens MW mode.  
3) Press the “CONFERENCE” key. The parties will be connected.  
To configure message waiting mode for non-Siemens systems:  
TERMINATING A CONFERENCE CALL  
Pressing either “LINE” key will maintain the connection with the selected line while  
dropping the other. Pressing the “CONFERENCE” or “SPEAKERPHONE” key will  
disconnect both lines.  
1) Press and hold “Line 2” key on base. Plug in the power supply socket; you will hear  
two beeps.  
2) Release “Line 2” key; when you hear two beeps, the set is in non-Siemens MW mode.
