your aid when you are working near a
lead-acid battery.
Remove all personal metal items
fromyourbodysuchasrings,bracelets,
necklaces and watches, while working
with a lead-acid battery. A battery can
produce a short circuit current high
enough to weld a ring (or the like) to
metal, causing a severe burn.
have plenty of fresh water and soap
nearby in case battery acid contacts
skin, clothing, or eyes. If this happens,
wash immediately with soap and water.
Then get medical attention.

ChARgE INTERNAL bATTERy
After removing the PP-18400CI from the
carton, charge it 48 – 72 hours before
using even if the green CHARGING STA-
TUS LED glows.
The green CHARGING STATUS
LED located on the front panel will
blink indicating there is power to
PP-18400CI.
4. Whentheinternalbatteryhasreached
full charge, the CHARGING STATUS
LED will glow green. This could
take up to 48 to 72 hours on some
charges due to age and condition
of the battery. The PP-18400CI will
automatically drop into a float mode
and maintain the internal battery at
full charge without damaging bat-
tery.
1. Make sure the PP-18400CI is OFF.
The ON / OFF switch is located on
the right side.
2. To charge, plug wall charger adaptor
into the CHARGING ADAPTOR port
on the right side, located under the
ON / OFF switch.
3. Plug the wall charger plug into a
110 volt AC electrical wall outlet.

5. Connect POSITIVE red clamp (+) to
the POSITIVE terminal of the vehicle
battery (Negative Ground System)*.
NOTE: The inverter must be in the OFF
(0) position before using the Jump Start
feature.
6. Connect NEGATIVE black clamp (-)
to an unpainted and unmoving part of
the vehicle chassis or engine block.
1. Make sure the PP-18400CI is OFF.
The ON / OFF switch is located on
the right side.
CAUTION: If you have connected the
clamps backwards, an audible alarm
will sound and the JUMP STARTER
REVERSE HOOK-UP LED will turn
on. Do NOT turn on PP-18400CI
or serious damage could occur.
Reverse the connections and the
audible alarm will stop and the ON
LED will turn off.
2. Turn vehicle ignition OFF before mak-
ing cable connections.
3. Rest the PP-18400CI on a flat, stable
surface near the vehicle battery and
away from moving engine parts.
CAUTION: To prevent sparking, NEV-
ER allow clamps to touch together or
to contact the same piece of metal.
7. Turn ON the PP-18400CI.
4. Remove red and black clamps stored
on the sides of the PP-18400CI.
8. Turn the key and crank the engine. If
the engine does not start within 5 – 8
4

seconds, wait at least 1 minute before
attempting to crank the vehicle again.
This permits the internal battery to
cool down.
PoWeRIng A 12 Volt DC DeVICe
The PP-18400CI is a power source for all
12 volt DC accessories equipped with a
12V accessory plug. Ideal for power out-
ages, fishing excursions, camping trips,
tailgating parties, etc. Important: Use
accessories requiring no more than 15
amps. If the 12V DC device draws more
than 15 amps, the circuit breaker will trip.
If the circuit breaker trips, it will automati-
cally reset.
9. After engine starts, turn OFF the
PP-18400CI.
10. Disconnect clamps in this order:
NEGATIVE black ( - ) and then POSI-
TIVE red ( + ). Store clamps on each
side of the case.
11. Charge the PP-18400CI as soon as
possible after jump-starting.
To operate a 12V DC device:
*note: In the rare case of jump-
starting a vehicle that has a positive-
grounded vehicle electrical system,
connect the NEGATIVE black clamp
(-) to the negative terminal of the ve-
hicle battery. Then connect the POSI-
TIVE red clamp (+) to an unpainted
and unmoving part of the vehicle
chassis or engine block. If you are
unsure of the nature of the vehicle’s
electrical grounding system, check
the owner’s manual of the vehicle. To
disconnect clamps, reverse order.
1. Make sure the device to be powered
is OFF.
2. Open the protective cover of the 12V
DC power outlet on the front panel of
the PP-18400CI.
3. Plug the 12V DC power cord of de-
vice into the 12V DC power outlet,
and turn ON the 12V DC device (if
needed).
4. Charge the PP-18400CI as soon as
possible after each use.
NOTE: Because the DC power out-
let is internally wired directly to the
internal battery, extended operation
of a 12V DC device may result in
excessive battery drain.

3. To inflate items other than tires, use
one of the three nozzles stored in the
center back left compartment. Slide
the panel to the left to open. Attach
nozzle to end of air compressor
hose, attach to product and flip down
lever.
2. Pull tab up to remove light from stor-

IMPORTANT SAfETy INSTRUCTIONS
USIng the InVeRteR
NOTE: The JUMP START switch must
be in the OFF position before using the
inverter.
It is important to know the continuous
wattage of the device you plan to use
with the inverter. The PP-18400CI must
be used with devices drawing 400 watts
or less. If the wattage is not marked on
the device, an estimate can be made by
multiplying the AC input current (Amps)
by the AC voltage (110V).

of clearance around the top and sides
of the PP-18400CI. DO NOT block the
vents on the back of the PP-18400CI.
Devices like TVs, fans or electric motors
require additional power to start (com-
monly known as the “starting or peak
power”). The PP-18400CI can supply a
momentary surge in wattage; however,
even devices rated less than the maxi-
mum 400 watts can exceed the inverters
surge capability and cause an automatic
overload shutdown.
• Make sure the PP-18400CI is not close
to any potential source of flammable
fumes, gases or clothing.
• Keep the PP-18400CI dry.
• DO NOT allow the PP-18400CI to come
into contact with rain or moisture.
Make sure the device you are using is
compatible with a modified sine wave
inverter.
• DO NOT operate the PP-18400CI if
you, the PP-18400CI, the device being
operatedoranyothersurfacesthatmay
come in contact with any power source
are wet. Water and many other liquids
can conduct electricity, which may lead
to serious injury.
CAUTION: Always run a test to establish
whether the inverter will operate a particu-
lar piece of equipment or device.
NOTE: In the event of a power overload,
the inverter is designed to automatically
shut down. This safety feature prevents
damaging the inverter while testing de-
vices and equipment with the 400-watt
range.

volt AC accessories, the combined watts
should not exceed 400 watts.

3. Once the battery is fully charged,
the built-in charger automatically
switches to float-mode monitoring,
which trickle charges the battery
and keeps it fully charged without
overcharging so the PP-18400CI may
be left permanently connected to the

STORAgE AND MAINTENANCE
Charge the PP-18400CI internal battery before first use and after every use thereafter.
The internal battery will gradually self-discharge (lose power) over time, especially in
warm environments. Leaving the battery in a discharged state may result in permanent
battery damage. To ensure satisfactory performance and avoid permanent damage,
charge the internal battery every 2 to 3 months. The PP-18400CI may be left permanently
connected to the AC electrical wall outlet. Store in a cool dry place.
